Pete's Thoughts
My first solo cd, featured Steve Howe on gtr. on the 1st track! Because I was a huge Yes fan as a teenager, it was quite a rush and very serendipitous to work with Steve on the 1st solo cd. I also had some help from my local favorites Steve Varner on bass (he is now getting busy with some major jazz gigs), Howard Boots on sax and Jay Davidson also on sax (Jay can be heard in Philly leading the 76ers house band).Randy Crafton lent a hand on Egyptian riq from New York, the 1st digital collaboration. Some of the art was also constructed from digital images being transferred between photographers here in Lancaster, San Diego (Barb DuBoise) and photoshop on several machines. This was the obvious beginnings of Digital Alchemy. I can still listen and enjoy a lot of the cuts on this cd.

No Boundaries – Pete Barnhart 1999
Pete's first solo effort synthesizes years of playing world music. Step inside Pete's vision of sonic landscapes with no caution for borders. First, you will hear the driving pulse of international rhythms played on hand drums from 4 continents. Then, off in the distance, you hear chanting, trancy melodies, swirling synth atmospheres and club beats that get your body moving. Pete invites guest guitar virtuoso Steve Howe of Yes fame to add a few colorful brushstrokes onto the canvas. Percussionist Randy Crafton also adds some bold masterful strokes into the scene. Come explore a new music that brings many genres together, celebrating world unity and the pathos of the human condition. Come melt into the re-world consciousness.
